What happens when Showesome runs out of storage?

When storage reaches 85%, Showesome keeps your 5 most recent recordings. At 95%, it keeps your 2 most recent recordings. Older clips in Recordings History are the ones that leave the library. A file you already downloaded, and a copy you chose to upload, live outside that rule.

Showesome saves finished recordings in Chrome on your device. They are not in Downloads until you export, and they are not stored on Showesome servers.

1. Check Storage Usage before the library is full

  1. Click the Showesome icon in the Chrome toolbar.
  2. In the bottom feature carousel, open the RECORDINGS card (“View statistics and manage your recordings”).
  3. Read Storage Usage. The panel shows a progress bar and how much of Chrome’s quota is used (“X of Y used”).

Open this view anytime, including before the next recording. View All & Manage opens Recordings History. The recordings icon in the popup header (tooltip: View Recordings) opens the same library.

2. See what 85% and 95% keep

Storage What stays in Recordings History
85% Your 5 most recent recordings
95% Your 2 most recent recordings

Recordings History holds finished clips from Screen Only, Screen + Camera, and Camera Only. One storage reading covers the library. The count is your most recent recordings, whichever mode you used.

This removes older library clips. It does not blur, mask, or redact passwords, notifications, emails, or anything else inside a clip that is still there.

3. Download MP4 or WebM of clips you still need

Download MP4 or Download WebM creates an extra copy outside Chrome. The library copy and that file are separate.

  1. Open the clip from Recordings History, or tap Last Recording or a Most Recent row in the statistics panel.
  2. On preview, click Convert to MP4 when you need MP4. Conversion runs on your device. Convert WebM to MP4 in Chrome.
  3. Click Download MP4 or Download WebM. Chrome saves that file to Downloads, or to a folder you pick.

A downloaded MP4 or WebM is a normal file. Deleting it does not remove the library copy. Deleting the library copy does not remove a file you already downloaded. Export older clips you still need while they are still in the library.

4. Delete clips you choose to drop

In Recordings History you can delete one clip, or Clear All with confirmation. Search by title, or filter by All Modes, Screen Only, Camera Only, or Screen + Camera, when you are deciding what to keep.

The library copy also leaves if you uninstall Showesome, or if Chrome clears the extension’s saved data. Where Chrome screen recordings are saved.

5. Treat cloud upload as a copy you choose

Google Drive, Dropbox, and YouTube receive a clip only after you connect that service and upload the clip you want. Nothing uploads on its own. Open Upload to Cloud from the cloud icon on Recordings History, or from the preview header.

An uploaded copy lives with the provider you chose. Local files stay unless you delete them, or storage reaches the point where Showesome keeps only the most recent library recordings. Disconnecting a cloud account does not delete local clips. Preview and optional cloud.

In the popup, open Settings → Recording & Video and pick a quality preset (Low through Ultra). Presets balance sharpness and file size. 4K screen recording in Chrome.

Does a full library hide passwords or notifications?

No. Showesome does not blur, mask, or redact on-screen content. Storage cleanup removes older clips from Recordings History. It leaves the picture inside a clip you still have unchanged. Move private content off the screen before you record.

Does a downloaded file survive if the library keeps only the newest clips?

Yes. Download writes an extra copy. That file stays on your computer when the library copy is deleted, and when storage keeps only your most recent recordings.

Do I need a Showesome account to keep recordings?

No. Recordings History and MP4 export work with no Showesome account. Drive, Dropbox, and YouTube use those accounts only when you connect one and upload a clip.
